This quick (unedited handheld) home video recording is meant to highlight that placing a digital cable adapter box inline between the HDTV and incoming coax cable, invalidates all channels previously tuned on the TV or HDTV. The only station the TV will find is channel 3 or 4, depending on the little switch on the adapter, in SD. Yes standard definition. --- We are in the nationwide pilot area for conversion to digital cable. Our local Time Warner Cable staff, trained for the digital conversion and handing out these adapters to consumers; has insisted that one of these digital cable adapter boxes is mandatory per TV set or TV device in order to keep receiving cable (unless you rent the more expensive box) No matter which TV you have, old or new, or if you already receive digital HDTV signals or not. What this implies is that all Cable TV is going to be encrypted, and customers need a digital cable box or digital cable adapter to decrypt the stations. They say that all cable is going to be password protected and that without this adapter box or a more expensive box you will no longer have cable TV.
